License Testing

Application

Applications can be found on this website under the “Applications & Forms” section. A completed application must be submitted online.

Prerequisites

Candidates for journeyman and blaster licenses must be licensed in another state or be an apprentice in Rhode Island for the required amount of time.

Testing

The next licensing tests will be offered on February 2nd at 0900 hrs. Tests are administered at the Rhode Island Fire Academy located at 4 Green Lane, Exeter, RI 02822 unless otherwise specified. Please arrive no later than 8:45 a.m. the morning of the test for registration.

Candidates must present a valid photo ID. Journeymen and blaster candidates must also present a current license from another state or an apprentice license from the State of Rhode Island prior to taking the test.

Directions:  Enter Gaspee Road, Exeter, RI into your navigation app then follow signs for the fire academy.  DO NOT enter mailing address of 4 Green Lane as this will lead you to a dead-end street.

This is an open book test so please bring the appropriate reference material with you the morning of the test.

Fees

We are no longer accepting paper applications. Test fees can be paid online as part of the application but checks can also be brought the morning of the test. Money orders and cash are not accepted forms of payment.

You will be contacted regarding your test score.
