The Basic Firefighter / NFPA Firefighter I course is where students learn the cognitive (class lectures) and practical (hands-on) training they need to operate safely and effectively on the fire ground. This is entry-level firefighting training. In addition to the basic skills that are taught, firefighters are taught how to manage the inherent stress of the firefighter profession with lessons on healthy lifestyles and stress management.

 

Prerequisites:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or GED
  • RI fire service member
  • FEMA Incident Command levels 100, 200 & 700
  • RI Energy Gas & Electrical Emergency Training
