The NFPA Firefighter I course is the entry-level course where students learn the cognitive (lectures) and practical (hands-on) training they need to be safe and effective on the fireground.  In addition to the basic skills that are learned, firefighters are taught how to manage the inherent stress of the firefighter profession with lessons on healthy lifestyles and stress management.

 

Prerequisites:

  • Atleast 18 years of age
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Be a Rhode Island fire service member
  • Incident Command levels NIMS 100, 200 & 700 (see flyer)
  • RI Energy Gas & Electrical Emergency training (see flyer)
