The NFPA Firefighter I course is the entry-level course where students learn the cognitive (lectures) and practical (hands-on) training they need to be safe and effective on the fireground. In addition to the basic skills that are learned, firefighters are taught how to manage the inherent stress of the firefighter profession with lessons on healthy lifestyles and stress management.
Prerequisites:
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Rhode Island service member (paid or volunteer)
- RIFA registration form, waiver and medical release form
- Incident Command levels NIMS 100, 200 & 700 (https://training.fema.gov/nims)
