NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue Operations
This program provides students with extensive time on rope, giving skills and confidence needed to handle basic rope rescues and slope evacuations. This 5-day program includes 4 days of instruction and one day of written & skill evaluation. Topic areas include: site operations, size-up, resource management, hazard/risk assessment, ground support for helicopter ops, triage, incident management, rope construction, knots, harnesses, hardware, anchoring methods, belay systems, mechanical advantage & pickoffs as addressed in NFPA 1006.
Prerequisites:
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- RIFA Accident Waiver and Release of Liability Form
- Current EMT license or EMR certification
- Proof of Firefighter I/II and Hazmat Operations level
PPE Requirements:
- Fire or rescue style helmet
- Work boots
- Clean, leather palm gloves
