NFPA 1006 Rope Rescuer Level I

This program provides students with extensive time on rope, giving skills and confidence needed to handle basic rope rescues and slope evacuations. This 5-day program includes 4 days of instruction and one day of written & skill evaluation.
Topic areas include site operations, size-up, resource management, hazard/risk assessment, ground support for helicopter ops, triage, incident management, rope construction, knots, harness, hardware, anchoring methods, belay systems, mechanical advantage, ascending/descending and pickoffs as addressed in NFPA 1006.
Prerequisites:
- 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Rhode Island fire service member
- Completed RIFA Accident Waiver
- Firefighter I/II and Hazmat Operations Level
- Current EMT or EMR license
