NFPA 1006 Rope Rescuer Technician
This program builds on Rope Operations, providing the student with advanced training and practical experience in rope rescue as addressed in NFPA 1006. The 5 days of training will include a technician level lecture followed by hands on training. Topic areas include advanced anchoring methods, mechanical advantage systems, litter management in high angle, line system transfers, patient packaging, tensioned line systems, artificial high directionals and basic lead climbing techniques. The final day will include the written and practical exam for ProBoard certification.
This course prepares students for the ProBoard certification exam for Rope Rescuer Technician. After successful completion of this program, students may participate in the ProBoard certification exam. Rope Rescuer Technician is an in-depth program focused on mastery level skills for technical rope rescue in accordance with NFPA 1006.
Prerequisites:
- 18 years of age
- Current EMT or EMR certification
- Pro Board Rope Rescuer 1 (Operations) certification
PPE Requirements:
- Rescue style helmet (or fire helmet)
- Work boots
- Clean, leather palm gloves
